On the wide pastures colored with different shades of green, there wasn't even a trace of a rain drop from the rain yesterday. Thanks to that, the mood was even fresher on the set and the occasional seeds of the dandelion floated across along with the soft blow of the wind. A few minutes later, BEAST's leader Yoon Doojoon walked on to set. Step step. Now that we look at it, Yoon Doojoon's footsteps matched his pace. After deciding that he wanted to be a singer in high school to the time he debuted as a BEAST member, from sitcom <All My Love> and moving on to Seo Hyunwoo in <Iris 2>. The time invested in his dreams and the confirmation of them, he had went through it all step by step. “What I always tell people is that I was really lucky. Even though I did face some hard times, compared to my friends, I came here really comfortably. Of course I was pressured too, but compared to others….” His dreams were absolute and his luck was with him, but despite the solo activities that he went through, he was still the leader of a six membered idol group. In a way, he went through his own set of difficult times through failure with <Hot Blood> and trainee days, but he didn't show any complaints. “I try to stay optimistic. It's not being confident and this might seem really rude but… I think of myself as a special person. If you treat yourself that way, then you get treated that way. I repeatedly told myself, "I am a special person and I will get a chance to be better." If that goes to an extreme than you can become arrogant, but I believe that some encouragement is needed for confidence."
Compared to his own confession saying that he had a "very trolling personality," the heaviness and kindness we witnessed in his heart made us rethink about how he said that he got to where he is now just by luck. He was able to become an actor he never thought about before debut and the opportunity was taking him places. “I can't even take care of myself as a singer, but calling me an actor? I really never thought about this field, but it is really a special opportunity. Also I can tell that I also matured. I believe that I got this chance because the BEAST name is valued and because of that I find myself worrying about our promotions more.” After the episodes that happened in <Iris 2> that ended a few weeks ago, Yoon Doojoon summed up his experience in the three words, "Unfamiliar, difficult, but fun." As Yoon Doojoon increased his channels and opened up to new opportunities in this era with many possibilities, he is building up on his experiences. “I think I am the type that gets stronger after actually facing it head on and experiencing it. Even though that's probably for everyone. Before I start something new, I find myself experiencing fear more than anything. So after experiencing it first, I take that experience to get accustomed to it. I want to study it every time I get the chance.”
“BEAST is the same now compared to our debut times. We live in Cheongnamdong, the teamwork is strong, and no matter who works the most, we split the pay equally. To be honest, aside from all these realistic things, the members are really close. It's been about 5 years since debut and even though we are preparing for solo activities, it doesn't mean we feel threatened, but we are just following the natural flow. This path also gives us many ways to promote in different parts of Asia as well.” Other than the recent news of Yang Yoseob's solo activity and Yong Junhyung's drama debut, every single member breaths air into their BEAST name. And soon, leader Yoon Doojoon plans to conquer the stage.
