101022 Running without 'breath', BEAST successfully conquers first place

■ BEAST released the 3rd Mini Album ‘Mastermind’

As soon as the title song ‘Breath’ is released, it places first on the music chart in an hour

“The work has been laid out, now it’s our job to fulfill them one by one.”

These guys have caused one big problem. While other groups take several months to release a single album, they are already getting ready to release a new album not too long into their comeback. On top of that, they even set up the great plan of opening their first solo concert in the month of December.

Appearing from variety programs to acting activities, music programs, and festivals, in a state when they need all the bodies they can get, it looks like BEAST will be causing one big accident. The 6 member group BEAST has already revealed their end of 2010 schedule ‘filled up to full’ not too long after the release of this 3rd Mini Album ‘Mastermind’.

“We are really considerate as to how we will be fulfilling the future activities. We need to release '3rd Mini Album Part 2’ around mid-November in the midst of our ‘Breath’ activities, and also our first solo concert on December 12th in the Seoul Jamsil Indoor Stadium. It looks like we will be ending the activities of this year big.”
It has been a little over a year since they debuted with the song ‘Bad Girl’ in October of last year. Even though it has been only a year, the achievements they accomplished are not like any artists. In the course of one year, even though they are mini albums, they have already 3 albums out. Their periods of promotions were due to the love towards ‘Bad Girl’, ‘Mystery’, ‘Shock’, and the new title song, ‘Breath’.

Since they have been running to the top without any ‘Breath’, before they knew it, they were already on the top. When their ‘Mastermind’ album was released, the album conquered the music charts in an hour and their popularity only seems to grow from there.

“It was our first time getting all of the songs on our album in the first half of the charts. We felt really good too. This album was very important to us. We thought, and others had told us, that this album has to do well for us to prove that we are the improved BEAST. Since we prepared that much and won positive feedback, we feel good since it feels like we have been confirmed.”

They raised the album’s completion level by making the release of the album date longer. Also, they had been planning to release the album as a whole full one, however, in the end they just decided the split the album into two different colors and release ‘Part 2’ in mid-November. As for the part one album, BEAST wanted to show off an upgraded version of ‘Shock’ with ‘Breath’ which contains a modern melody, and professional performances that show that they have been artists for one year.

“We practiced 6~7 hours a day. As soon as we opened our eyes, we headed towards the practice room. We couldn’t do anything about it since we only had a short time to prepare. We couldn’t even sleep properly.”

Placing first in music programs with the title song ‘Breath’, they are leading the many idol group as the first in line. However they are not satisfied here. Since they feel that they need time to change as well, they will be showing a ‘bling’ concept for the ‘Part 2’ album that will be released on November showing another side of BEAST.

“We have been showing a strong and manly sides so far, but we had ideas that it won’t be bad to show off a whole new side as well. ‘Bad Girl’ was the song with our ‘bling’ side, but this album we will be releasing will have even more of a ‘bling’ side to it. You guys can anticipate for this.”

And like other artists, they have showed anticipation towards the concert as well. “It is unusual for an artist having a solo concert only a year after debut, but we really wanted to do it. Instead of a concert with just singing and dancing, we want to have different features here and there so it won’t be a boring performance. Since it is a concert only for a day, we will work hard without any regrets.”

Music shows or outdoor stages, we always say ‘Fighting’

It’s always nervous going up on stage. On stages with a festival presence they can just enjoy, however with music shows, they can get sensitive from the pressure. Whenever they feel that way, they calm each other down with a ‘fighting’ shout.

“On days we have rehearsal before the music shows, getting up on the rehearsal stage at 10 PM is really a hard thing to do. We are singing as soon as we wake up in the morning when our voice isn’t warmed up. It’s even more nerve-wracking. In particular for Yoseob, since he has his adlib in the end, he has the most trouble. When everyone is sensitive and worried, we shout ‘fighting’ once and go, and we feel less nervous. From the first debut performance, we have been always saying ‘fighting’.”
