He explodes with admiration seeing Suwon's new 2012 season uniform, ‘Blue Fever’. For a long time he spends looking around shifting his eyes here and there. As he sees his name 'DUJUN' engraved in English, instantly, he wears an ear-to-ear smile. The man who is excited about Suwon’s new blue uniform is male idol group BEAST’s leader, Yoon Doojoon.
Last year in May, Yoon Doojoon was tempted by Captain Kim Junsu from JYJ and joined ‘FC Men’. He is the secret weapon member who is in charge of the midfield position for Suwon’s official star soccer team. He, who wanted to be a soccer player when he was little, has playing soccer for his school club team in his resume. “I wanted to be a soccer player when I was little, but it was really hard once I got into it. Then I thought oh I guess I will do this as a hobby really early.” Even though he closed his dreams to be a soccer player, his interest for soccer didn’t end so quick. “Because I like soccer, I watch K League games as well as oversea games. Especially these days, watching K League games at the stadium is so fun. Almost like the European games.”
The relationship between him, who was into soccer, and Suwon continued to move since 2006. During his high school years, he applied for an event sponsored by a sports company called, ‘Kim Namil +10 vs Lee Ho +10’. It was a form of an audition that had the two soccer players make a team of 10. After a competitive trial run, Yoon Doojoon was placed in Lee Ho’s team. “I really liked soccer. The fact that I got to run with players who represented Korea.... I regretted not trying harder in soccer when I was little.” After playing soccer with the players he admired, Suwon became his team. “I lived in Seoul, but if Suwon was playing, I went to Suwon to watch the game. There were so many famous players like Lee Kwanwoo, Cho Wonhee, and more back then so I really developed an affection for it. Kim Namil looked really good in the Suwon uniform so I really liked him too. In my opinion, I think he looks better in the Suwon uniform than the Incheon one.” Without a pause, he named all the players who were a part of Suwon in the past. He also can’t forget the friendly match when He wore the Suwon uniform and ran on the ‘Big Bird’ (Suwon home stadium). “Because it felt like became the soccer player I always dreamed of, it was such an honor. Many Grand Blue (Suwon soccer team supporters) cheered for me and shouted my name. I really want to do that again.”
We asked him if he has any soccer players he is recently interested in both locally and internationally. We expected big names like Park Jisung or Lionel Messi, but his answer was unexpected. “ Player Lee Yongrea. I watched him play for the 2011 Asian Cup and I thought he was really good. I like players who are realistic and play tough. I like Jung Sungyong player too and I think he is a really strong goalkeeper with animal like senses. We follow each other on Twitter.” We asked him to draw out his own ‘Suwon best 11’ because he really knew the players inside and out. Even though he started out by saying, “It’s so hard because I have so many players who I like...” he drew out a 4-3-3 formation with Kim Namil as the Captain. He even managed to wish Shin Yongrok on his fast recovery.
He didn’t forget to mention his fans as well. "With this weather, I think watching a game at the stadium will be the greatest break. Come with people you are close to. I am sure that your stress will be blown away."
